Summary

After hearing about American heroes in Social Studies class, Johnny decides to help his class mates by bringing back applesauce as a vigilante after the lunch lady outlaws it.

Plot

In class, Johnny hears about folk heroes like Davy Crockett and Johnny Appleseed. So Johnny goes home and tells Dukey that he wants to be folk tale hero like he heard in Mr. Teacherman's class. Dukey is not really into it and thinks life is all about video games and cupcakes. The next day Johnny goes to school to find no more applesauce with his lunch. So he turns into a hero called Johnny Applesauce. However the lunch lady also turns into a villain. Johnny tries many attempts to get applesauce into the lunchroom. He and the lunch lady battle for whether or not applesauce will go in. Finally, the principal shows up and tells Johnny everyone could have signed a petition to have applesauce. When Johnny leaves the principal's office, nobody wants applesauce anymore. Then Johnny turns into Johnny Chocolate Pudding.
